In Huma's house near Stratford, three tube rides and a black curvy
cab to get here from Heathrow airport. The policeman on the plane helped with my bag, I
thought too large to fit. Home made Pakistani food. Lemon tarts at a fresh air market. The street
performer HEY I'M SNAP BOOGIE AND I'M FROM THE US... BOSTON! The women here have
purple tints to their grayed perms, but Huma swears she doesn't notice.
Visa sponsors an amusement park under the London Eye-- Wonderworld
which I think, but can't verify, does burlesque versions of
Shakespeare. Titillating Henry V. And all around the ferris wheel, buildings old and new swivel up. London peeks at me from around the corners, both snooty and childish at
once, standing knee deep it's own dirty bath water, the River Thames.
An inscription:
There are two things scarce matched in the Universe the Sun in Heaven and the Thames on Earth
--Sir Walter Raleigh

The lemon tart is the sun. Huma would like to note that "It lit'raly is luminous" |

Macaroons: chocolate, pistachio, raspberry, banana, and hazelnut |

Ohhhh macaroons and those curvy black cabs. Divinity, no less. Xoxoxoxoxoxxoxooxxoox (times the distance between london and knox)
